Who we are

Formula SAE International is an intercollegiate competition in which students design and engineer an open-wheel race car each year. Beginning as an engineering senior project in 1992, Hornet Racing Formula SAE has operated as California State University Sacramento's internal combustion racing team for more than 30 years. Our team is structured into 10 different subsystems, each in charge of a different portion of crucial vehicle or team components. Hornet Racing operates almost 365 days out of the year, as our design and manufacturing processes may vary from season to season. The team conducts weekly subsystem and general meetings, as well as "design days"; in which students are taught CAD design through school and FSAE-provided licenses. Hornet Racing prides itself on its capability to introduce students to the motorsports and automotive engineering world regardless of prior experience.

OUR MISSION

Hornet Racing FSAE strives to engineer the finest and most competitive racecar in the Internal Combustion League. By using extensive hands-on research and application, Hornet Racing allows students of all majors to gain a learning experience beyond the classroom. Through team-oriented design goals, manufacturing education, and real-world business application, our team continues to provide a constructive learning environment for anyone eager to learn.
